In the early part of last century, historic Bundanoon sported sixty guesthouses. One of these was Idle A Wile, now one of the few remaining guest houses in the area.
Idle A Wile in its early days and postcard below from 1931
Reborn, Idle A Wile is the passion of two hosts, who together have nearly five decades of hospitality experience between them - more than enough to bring to life the tradition of yesteryear, but with a fresh, eclectic twist for today's style-conscious times.
Five queen-size rooms with ensuite each have a distinctive theme with rich tones and plush furnishings. The guest lounge is really a series of spaces for lounging, reading (there's a superb library) or simply having a sticky beak at the labyrinth assembly of collectables from around the world.
Kick your shoes off and explore: open boxes and look for surprises. Admire the extensive art collection and fall asleep in a world that is a mix of bold modern colours and that estranged batty uncle's secret den.
Cuisine is a focus here, and virtually all guests choose to dine in (groups often book the whole house), enjoying Neville's sumptuous dinners featuring fresh local produce and an international menu. Good food, attention to detail, a rich and comfortable environment and experienced hosts make this a must-stay. Rooms/Facilities: Five ensuite queen bedrooms. There is a large guest lounge with fireplace, a library and a dining room. Meals: A full breakfast is served and dinner is available.
On Friday and Saturday nights, Albert's Dining Room is open to the public so be sure to book your table for dinner when making your booking. During the week, dinner is available by arrangement.
Booking Confirmation: A $50 deposit per room confirms a booking. This is refundable up to 4 weeks prior to booking date. Closed on Monday and Tuesdays.
